Work
Students will work a full time job or internship of their choice. Because there have been several Kaleo summer programs in Orlando the past few years, we have formed partnerships with different businesses in the area. During the first week of Kaleo, you will have the opportunity to visit these job sites and apply. You typically work between 35-40 hours a week Tuesday-Saturday. Also, many students in the past have been able to combine an internship with a summer at Kaleo. As long as the internship hours fit into the Kaleo schedule, you are free to work at an internship related to your major while at Kaleo. In the past, Kaleo students have worked at internships in the engineering, medical, education, and business fields.
StuMo Night
Join students from the project for dinner and themed large group meeting at a church nearby. We will have student-led worship and a message from someone on StuMo staff about walking with God in college. Each week will be a different message on a variety of topics- the Bible, prayer, fellowship, evangelism, Holy Spirit, etc.
Bible Study Training
The Bible is a big book and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed! Over the summer you will explore the main theme of the Bible and learn what it has to say about your life and following Jesus in tangible ways. This will also help you learn how to prepare and lead your own Bible study.
D-Group Night
Each student will be living with a Discipleship Group (D-Group) for the summer. This group consists of a D-Group leader and 3-4 participants. D-Group leaders are fellow students who have been to Kaleo before. On this night you will connect with your group, study the Bible and experience life together!
Church
Every Sunday students will attend a local church with their D-Group. StuMo staff will assign students a local church at the start of Kaleo.
Conferences
During Kaleo, we will have a few 2-night conferences with a different weekly schedule that include content on topics that are relevant to college students. Relationships Conference: What principles does the Bible have for dating? How can you make the most out of time as a single person? How can God help you have an amazing dating relationship, and someday an awesome marriage? Questions like these are answered at Relationships Conference. Discipleship Conference: How can I have an impact in college? What does it look like to be a disciple and make disciples? This conference will answer these questions and more. Missions Conference: What is God’s plan for the world? How can I play a role in it? Learn from an expert in the field.
Outreach Training
Ever feel awkward bringing up faith? Learn how to navigate conversations about faith in a more natural way to both friends and strangers. At training you will learn a illustration to communicate the gospel. After that, we will all go out to the beach in pairs of two or three and share that illustration with others.
Girls/Guys Time
On this night, guys and girls will seperate to learn about godly manhood and godly womanhood. They will hear from different StuMo staff on tools to practically grow in these areas. We love creating an environment to foster community and accountability.
Free Time
Orlando, FL has so many fun places to explore. Driving to the beach, hanging by the pool, playing a round of golf, eating with friends, making fun memories, going to Disney World or hanging out at the condo, you will find ways to refresh and recharge in your free time.
World Prayer
There are over 7.6 billion people on earth. You will learn what God’s doing in other parts of the world and how you can pray. You will learn about major world religions and unreligious people groups.
Special Events
Over the summer, Kaleo will host a variety of special weekend events such as D-Group Weekend and Family Weekend. D-Group Weekend: One weekend this summer will be given off so that students can take a short trip as a D-Group. Past trips have included Disneyworld, camping, beach trips and national parks. Family Weekend: In June there will be an opportunity for families to come visit Kaleo. This will be an opportunity for your family to learn about your summer and get extra hang time with you. More info on that to come!
